The Sustainable Business Initiative (SBI) kicked off the year with a strategy day to set out key themes for 2025
And this group photo captures a team passionate about helping Guernsey’s businesses embrace sustainability!
As part of Chamber, SBI brings together people from across the business community who want to make a real difference. Whether you’re a sustainability professional, part of a company green team, or just starting to think about what sustainability means for you — SBI is a network you can join.
So, what’s the plan for 2025?
This year, SBI will focus on four key areas:
- Highlighting the benefits of Guernsey’s energy transition — and the cost of inaction
- Celebrating and highlighting local sustainability success stories and case studies
- Hosting practical workshops on easy sustainability wins for businesses
- Exploring bold, aspirational ideas for a future sustainable Guernsey
How can you get involved?
Being involved in the SBI means you will quickly and easily grow your understanding of the climate-change risks and opportunities Guernsey faces as well as the tools you have to drive positive change.
- Join our popular People, Planet, Pint and People, Planet, Pastry meetups — open to everyone, whether you’re an expert or just curious. (Next one: March 20 at Cock & Bull – book here). The sessions encourage the sharing of experiences of our members’ challenges and solutions in business sustainability and connect you to like-mined people.
- Share your business’s sustainability success story — we’re featuring local case studies on the Chamber website and social channels. We need to celebrate successes and help each other emulate them. Don’t hide your successes!
- Take part in future events and workshops, from expert-led seminars to quick-win tips to blue-sky thinking sessions (yes, including a creative “hackathon”). We expose and curate expertise for you and provide free resources you can use at your work.
- Help shape SBI’s work — we’re always open to new committee members who share our passion for making Guernsey greener.
Finally, keep an eye out for the Annual Sustainable Business Survey, launching in April — your input will help shape the future of business sustainability on the island.
