The Chamber of Commerce is proud to support a new initiative designed to help businesses of all sizes make a real difference to the environment.

‘Nature Opportunities for Businesses’, led by the Nature Commission, is a practical and powerful new platform that connects companies with a wide range of local nature-focused projects—from habitat restoration and environmental education to wildlife monitoring and volunteering opportunities.

Whether your business can offer time, funding, expertise, or simply enthusiasm, there’s something here for everyone. The platform makes it easy to find nature-based projects that align with your values and your capacity, helping to meet ESG goals, support team development, and make a visible difference right here in Guernsey and Herm.

This initiative helps companies:

  • Fund impactful environmental projects of all sizes
  • Offer meaningful team volunteering experiences
  • Access tailored learning and training around local biodiversity and environmental challenges
  • Showcase their commitment through co-branding opportunities

It’s also a great way to develop staff engagement. Learning opportunities include time outdoors in nature, hands-on biological data collection, and office-based sessions about Guernsey’s environmental challenges—all of which can promote wellbeing, collaboration and a deeper understanding of the environment.

Businesses can browse a growing directory of high-impact opportunities that suit different budgets and levels of involvement.

Project examples include:

  • Sponsoring short films about local wildlife
  • Supporting school-based nature education
  • Funding kit for species identification
  • Helping to survey how people access and enjoy natural spaces

Through a partnership with the Association of Guernsey Charities and its Volunteer.gg platform, businesses can also easily connect with one-off or ongoing volunteering opportunities for staff—great for team building and community visibility.

Rollo de Sausmarez, Co-lead of Chamber’s Sustainable Business Initiative, says:

“This platform makes it so much easier for businesses to take positive action for nature. Whether you’re a large corporation or a small local enterprise, you’ll find accessible, curated projects that align with your values.”
