Every month we pose 7 questions to a Chamber member, this time it’s Lindsay Fox, founder of Onyx Training Solutions.

1.Who are you and what do you do?

I set up ONYX Training Solutions to make learning easier, more accessible, and actually relevant to the real world of work.

We offer online training and development for people and organisations in the regulated and non-regulated sectors; the content is tailored to different professional needs – for example Compliance and Financial Crime training, Leadership and Non-Executive Director development.

2. How long have you been doing what you do?

I’ve spent over 35 years working in Guernsey’s financial services industry, taking on a variety of roles – many of which involved delivering training in different forms. For the past 17 years, I’ve focused on Compliance, Corporate Governance, and Anti-Financial Crime, alongside building a successful compliance consultancy.

3. How did you get into this?

After selling the compliance consultancy firm, I thought I was ready to retire – but it didn’t take long to realise I still had a lot to offer. Rather than let all that knowledge and experience go to waste, I started looking into the world of online training… and that’s how ONYX Training Solutions came to life.

4. What’s the ‘why’ behind your work?

I do this because I genuinely love seeing people grow and succeed. There’s nothing better than watching someone gain the skills and confidence to take on new challenges and reach their goals. For me, it’s about making a real difference – not just in workplaces, but in people’s lives too.

 5. What’s your process for coming up with your solutions/offers?

It all starts with really understanding what our clients need and the challenges they’re facing. From there, I blend industry insights, hands-on experience, and feedback to create training that’s relevant and genuinely useful.

Collaboration is a big part of it – I refine everything with input from clients to make sure it’s practical, effective, and fits their goals. Our courses can be tailored to suit different audiences, and I regularly review and update them to keep things fresh and impactful.

At the core of it all is my drive to help people grow, succeed, and feel confident in what they do.

6. What book (or podcast) has shaped your thinking?

The Mountain Is You”, by Brianna Wiest, is one of many that have helped shape me in the past. The author uses the mountain as a metaphor to explain how all the imperfections, experiences, insecurities, and hardships built up over time have formed personal challenges that must be overcome in order to grow.

 7. Tea, coffee, or something stronger?

Definitely tea, no sugar and changing to decaf after 2 pm otherwise I won’t sleep!
