Every month we pose 7 questions to a Chamber member, this time it’s Gez Overstall, lead in Client Development for C5.
1.Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Gez Overstall, and I lead New Client Development for C5 Alliance in Guernsey. My role is about building meaningful relationships and helping businesses unlock the value of technology through strategic partnerships.
2. How long have you been doing this?
I’ve been working in business development for nearly two decades, and I still get a buzz from helping clients move their plans forward and grow with confidence.
3. How did you get into this field?
I’ve always had a passion for business strategy and enjoy working directly with people. That naturally led me into roles where I could connect ideas, solutions, and relationships to create real results.
4. What’s the ‘why’ behind your work?
For me, it’s all about helping businesses succeed. Whether it’s supporting cloud or AI transformation, or solving a complex challenge, I get real satisfaction from delivering outcomes that make a difference.
5. How do you approach problem-solving?
I believe in combining insight with action. I start by understanding the client’s needs, bringing in the right people from our team of experts, and working together to deliver a clear, tailored solution.
6. What book, mentor (or podcast) has shaped your thinking?
Right now, I’m influenced by Nassim Taleb’s thinking—particularly around risk and resilience. His work pushes me to look beyond the obvious and take a more strategic approach to uncertainty.
7. Tea, coffee, or something stronger?
Matcha green tea is my go-to. It helps me stay focused and energised, especially on busy days.
