The election is over. Our new Government is in place.

Committee roles have been assigned with a respectful and collaborative tone that gives us real reason to feel hopeful. So now comes the important bit: getting to work.

We’re ready and we think they are too.

Ahead of the election, the Guernsey Chamber, alongside seven other business organisations (collectively referred to as the G8), ran a proactive campaign to ensure that the voice of business was heard clearly and constructively by every candidate. We asked what mattered most to you, our members, and we built everything around those priorities.

Shaping the Agenda

We started with a survey to capture your views on the issues that matter: connectivity, housing, education and skills, tax, economic development, and public spending. These formed the backbone of our messaging, ensuring it reflected real business concerns.

From there, we created a website to present these insights clearly and accessibly. It was shared with the media, the public, and candidates — and it was viewed nearly 7,000 times. That’s significant reach for our small community, and a clear signal that people were paying attention.

Engaging Widely: Events, Media, and Messaging

We hosted a webinar and held a major in-person event ahead of the election. Almost every candidate showed up. We went to hustings and asked key questions on your behalf. We created social media campaigns, longer-form explainers, five press adverts, and a suite of videos — all designed to make business-critical issues visible and accessible.

The results speak volumes:

  • Over 140,000 social media impressions and a reach of nearly 40,000 people
  • A media coverage report spanning 44 pages — we were on the radio, on the TV, online, and in print at every opportunity

We also had two pledges that we invited candidates to sign: firstly, to work constructively and collaboratively with all elected deputies, civil servants, and stakeholders. Secondly, to prioritise the calls to action outlined in the Voice of Guernsey Business Insight report.

Making a Difference

We set out to mobilise voters, educate candidates, and keep business priorities front and centre and we believe we succeeded. In fact, “collaboration” became one of the buzzwords of the election campaign. That was no accident.

Since the results, we’ve already hosted a post-election event that saw strong deputy attendance. We’re now actively following up with all deputies to offer our support and explore how we can help implement the business-critical actions identified.

This campaign wasn’t just about visibility, it was about impact. And it worked because of the strength, clarity, and unity of the business voice in Guernsey. Thank you to all Chamber members who contributed and engaged.

Now, with a new political term underway, our job continues: to work with government, bring solutions to the table, and keep championing the success of Guernsey’s economy and community.
