The Guernsey Chamber of Commerce will be closing its office on Fridays, as part of a move to support a healthier work–life balance for our team.

We believe that creating a positive, flexible working environment is key to attracting and retaining great people, and to leading by example in making Guernsey a great place to live and work.

Our decision reflects growing evidence that shorter working weeks can improve productivity and wellbeing. A McKinsey study has shown that organisations adopting a four-day week maintain, and often increase, productivity, while seeing higher levels of engagement and satisfaction among employees.

Chamber staff will continue to work hard to support our members, events and initiatives from Monday to Thursday, and will remain contactable for any urgent matters on Fridays.

President Stephen Rouxel said:

“As a business organisation, it’s important that we practise what we promote. Guernsey is well placed to lead the way on new ways of working that balance ambition with wellbeing. This small change reflects a big commitment to a sustainable, people-first future for our island’s business community.”

We’ll continue to deliver the same high level of service and support that members expect, while giving our team the space to recharge and bring their best selves to work each week.
