Every month we pose 7 questions to a Chamber member, this time it’s Tim Chilestone of TCS Limited
1. Who are you & what do you do?
I’m Tim, I’m the Director of TCS Guernsey.
At TCS, we provide bookkeeping, payroll and EPOS services to local companies. Our clients are spread across a range of industries, but we primarily work within the hospitality and retail sector, supporting them with a full back-office solution so they can focus on what they do best.
2. How long have you been doing what you do?
My first accounts assistant job was at a PR company in 2000, and I have been working in and out of accounts departments ever since. I founded TCS in 2019 and it’s a culmination of all my experiences.
3. How did you get into this?
In 2017, I made the move to Guernsey and began working as an accountant for a local company. During that time, I built a solid network of local business owners who encouraged and supported me when the company eventually closed, leading me to launch my own business.
Thanks to that early network, I landed my first clients—many of whom I’m still proud to work with today.
4. What’s the ‘why’ behind the work you do?
I’m passionate about providing high-level service and hands-on financial support to small, local businesses. With a background in hospitality, I get their unique challenges and understand the niche they operate in.
I love tackling problems to help ease their stress and especially enjoy guiding new businesses through those early stages. There’s nothing better than playing a part in their success!
5. What’s your process for coming up with your solutions/offers?
TCS began with a focus on day-to-day bookkeeping, but as our clients have grown, so have our services. We now offer end-to-end support, from company formation to year-end accounts and everything in between. We’re happy to address specific client needs, evolving our offerings as they grow. Our fully bespoke approach allows us to tailor services to meet (almost!) any bookkeeping requirement.
6. What book has shaped your life and why?
It’s impossible to choose a favourite, but I’ve re-read Trainspotting more than any other book so it’s probably a good contender!
7. Tea, Coffee or something a little stronger?
Double espresso every morning, tea throughout the day and a classic TCS sambuca shot in the office for celebrations!
