The States’ Trading Supervisory Board recently commissioned an independent review by PA Consulting Group on Aurigny’s fleet reliability after this year’s disruptions. The report, published today, examines whether Aurigny’s planned fleet of five ATR aircraft can support a dependable flying schedule.
The review found that Aurigny is now better prepared to maintain a stable service and handle occasional operational issues. While there are still some challenges, these are not unique to Aurigny, offering reassurance about its reliability.
The inquiry also investigated the disruptions caused by the sale of the Embraer jet and the transition to an all-ATR fleet. It concluded that selling the jet was the right move, making the fleet more resilient. However, delays in receiving a new leased aircraft left Aurigny vulnerable, exacerbated by issues with some of its ‘wet lease’ suppliers. These disruptions could not have been easily predicted, and if the transition had gone as planned, some of these issues might have been avoided.
