The International Stock Exchange (TISE) has appointed Gill Morris as a Non-Executive Director of group parent company, The International Stock Exchange Group Limited (TISEG).

Mrs Morris was appointed to the Board of TISEG on 1 January 2021, alongside Charlie Geffen who, following a year as Chair of the regulatory subsidiary, The International Stock Exchange Authority Limited (TISEA), succeeded Jon Moulton as Chair of TISEG from the same date.

Mr Geffen said: “I am extremely pleased to have been appointed to the Board and succeed Jon as Chair of TISEG. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his hard work over the last 7 years in transforming the business to the great success that it is today. Jon’s contribution to the organisation should not be underestimated and I have been fortunate to see that at close quarters during the last year.

“I am also delighted to welcome Gill to the TISEG Board. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience which I know will bring huge additional benefit to the Board. I look forward to her working with myself, our fellow Directors, including our new CEO, Cees Vermaas, and the rest of the Executive team, in what is a very exciting time for the company.”

Mrs Morris attended the Ladies’ College in Guernsey before obtaining a First in Agriculture at Newcastle-upon-Tyne University.

Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Adviser, she held tax advisor positions at Touche Ross & Co in London and Australia, and KPMG in Australia and Guernsey. Between 1994 and mid-2020 she was Director of Tax, then Director of Tax and Treasury and latterly, Director of Risk and Government Affairs at Specsavers.

Mrs Morris also holds the Financial Planning Certificate, a degree in Humanities with History from the Open University and is an Affiliate Member of the Institute of Risk Management.

She has been a Non-States Member of the Public Accounts Committee and a Non-States Member of the Scrutiny Management Committee, and she is a current Member of the Trade Policy Advisory Panel and a Panel Member of the Guernsey Tax Tribunal. She has also been appointed part time Executive Director of the local think tank, the Guernsey Policy and Economic Group LBG.

Through her position on the TISEG Board, Guernsey-based Mrs Morris succeeds Mr Moulton as Chair of the group Audit Committee.

Mrs Morris said: “It is a great pleasure to be appointed to the TISEG Board and to Chair the group Audit Committee. I can see that the business has undergone significant change in the last few years, and in conjunction with my fellow Directors, I look forward to utilising my expertise to help contribute to its continued successful development.”
