By Jessi Jennings, CEO of The Nature Commission

Guernsey’s natural environment is one of our island’s greatest assets – vital to our wellbeing, economy, and resilience in the face of climate change.

But it needs all of us to protect it, and that includes the local business community. The Guernsey Nature Commission has launched Nature Opportunities for Businesses, a new initiative designed to make it easier for organisations of any size to get hands-on with local nature recovery.

Whether you have time, funds, expertise or just enthusiasm, there’s a way for your business to make a real difference.

1. Support Local Projects
Partner with environmental groups working on biodiversity, habitat restoration and climate resilience. From sponsoring new planting schemes to helping fund community education, your contribution directly supports tangible improvements to Guernsey’s land and sea.

2. Educate and Inspire Your Team
Bring nature into your workplace. The Commission offers tailor-made sessions — from lunchtime talks to half-day field trips — helping staff understand how Guernsey’s ecosystems work and why protecting them matters.

3. Volunteer Together
Swap spreadsheets for spades. Team volunteering days are a great way to connect colleagues, boost morale and give back to the island’s environment. Opportunities are listed through the Association of Guernsey Charities, making it easy to find something that suits your skills and schedule.

This isn’t just about doing good — it’s about building a stronger, more sustainable Guernsey. Healthy ecosystems support tourism, culture, business growth, and community wellbeing. By investing in nature, the private sector helps secure the very foundations of our island’s future.

Become a Founding Partner

The Nature Commission is inviting local businesses to become founding partners in this island-wide effort. Funding, sponsorship and in-kind support are all welcome – whether it’s financial backing, staff expertise, or volunteering time. Find out more at office@naturecomission.gg
