Art for Guernsey announces a forthcoming exhibition, marking the 250th anniversary of Joseph Mallord William Turner’s birth and continuing the journey to discover the works and influence of his visit to the Bailiwick.

Last year Art for Guernsey took the first steps on a journey to discover the significance of the artist’s visit to Guernsey. The charity launched the Turner Trail, a series of installations in the landscapes that mark the most notable locations that Turner captured in his sketchbook. An exhibition of works by locally based artist James Colmer formed the backbone of the first Finding Turner exhibition, complemented by artworks by young local artists aged 6-12. The Finding Turner 250th Anniversary Exhibition continues the journey. Four international artists completed a residence to explore the Bailiwick’s natural beauty, observing the locations where Turner sketched and providing their own artistic response.
