Guernsey-based accountants DNA LTD have been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Xero Awards 2024.

Xero is a Cloud-based accounting software provider with almost 4 million subscribers worldwide. Its awards programme recognises Xero partners from across the UK and DNA is a finalist in the Midsize Firm category, recognising its commitment to innovation, efficiency, and excellence in accounting practice.

Finalists and winners are selected by an independent panel of judges made up of Xero’s leadership and respected industry experts.

The listing represents rapid success for DNA, which was formed by the 2022 strategic merger of two well-respected local accounting firms – de garis accounting and Nimbus Accounting. Since the merger, DNA has become the Channel Islands’ only Xero Platinum Partner and provides services to over 400 clients varying from small to medium-sized businesses in a range of sectors, and individuals, empowering businesses to operate more efficiently, sustainably & with greater impact.

Founders and Directors Diane de Garis and Danielle Bennett were excited about what the award shortlisting means for their business.

“Being shortlisted for the Xero Awards Midsize Firm of the Year is a tremendous honour for us,” said Diane. “As a Xero expert and certified advisor since 2015, I’ve seen firsthand the transformative power of Cloud accounting, particularly as the software can integrate with many add-ons. This allows us to design and implement incredibly bespoke systems for businesses, making them efficient and easy to use. Xero has always been a central software in that journey, which is why every member of our staff becomes Xero certified, regardless of their role.”

“This recognition is a testament to our team’s hard work, dedication, and the innovative spirit that drives us forward to transform the accounting industry, one client at a time, through the power of Xero,” added Danielle. “Our mission has always been to add value to a business, and Xero’s system enables us to achieve just that.”

DNA places significant emphasis on knowledge sharing, conducting regular training sessions for at least 120 individuals annually on Xero, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team and among clients.

Looking ahead, DNA is focused on addressing Guernsey’s unique challenges, such as inconsistent adoption of open banking and limited payment platform options in order to redefine the accounting landscape. Collaborating with Xero, the government, banks, and other stakeholders, DNA aims to tackle these obstacles and transition local businesses from traditional models to cloud-based solutions to drive community-wide growth.

The Xero Awards ceremony will be held in the UK in May 2024.
