DLM are delighted to announce that they will be working with Polygon Collective, Arts For Guernsey and the Victor Hugo Centre Guernsey LBG team to create design proposals for an off-grid tourism experience. The project is located on Guernsey’s south coast cliffs on a unique site that has inspired such names as Peter Le Lievre, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Victor Hugo. The proposal will provide an immersive off grid living experience, an exemplar for sustainable and low impact development on our island. A destination for visiting artists & writers as well as a cultural hub where creativity and collaboration can thrive alongside the raw elements of the surrounding landscape.

Martin Belcher, chairman of Polygon Collective said: ‘We first approached DLM in 2022 to generate and collaborate on ideas which would benefit both residents and visitors to the Island. In alignment with DLM Architect’s ethos to encourage sustainable development, they saw it as a unique opportunity to create an experimental off-grid and low energy structure, offering spaces aimed to inspire creativity. ‘

This exciting and ambitious project would produce educational, cultural, economic and tourism benefits for the island. The residence would emphasise the positive impact that arts and creative expression can have locally, in fostering creativity and drawing international audiences to Guernsey’s beautiful landscapes, vibrant culture and rich history.

David De La Mare, Managing Director of DLM Architects, said “This project draws together our passion for art, nature, community and sustainable construction. I’m very excited to be working alongside such a diverse and skilled team and eager to see where the collaboration leads us.”
