Weekly winter flights to London will be up by 35% on last year.

Guernsey’s Airline Aurigny has strengthened its connections with the one of the busiest hubs in the UK, by securing two new weekend slots at Gatwick Airport.

The competition started in May, with Aurigny being announced as winner after a three-month process. This significant development for the schedule will allow the Bailiwick’s flag carrier to introduce a new 12:10 departure from Guernsey on Saturdays and a 17:15 departure on Sundays. This will provide travellers with more flexibility for their weekend travel plans. Return flights are scheduled to operate on Saturdays at 13:40, arriving in Guernsey at 14:50, and on Sundays at 19:10, arriving in Guernsey at 20:20.

This latest development means that the winter schedule will now offer a total of approximately 7673 seats per week to and from London, which represents an increase of more than a third on the same period last year.

Speaking about the new slots at Gatwick, Aurigny’s Director of Commercial Sudeep Ghai said:

“Ensuring that our island remains well-connected throughout the winter season is essential as we want to ensure we are doing all we can to serve the people of Guernsey and our visitors. This expansion is a direct response to the clear preference demonstrated by our passengers, who have consistently favoured London Gatwick as their London airport of choice. We are committed to continually improving and expanding our services to meet the needs of the Bailiwick community.”

The new slots will play a crucial role for the business in achieving its objective of supporting both leisure and business travel between Guernsey and London. The first of the new Guernsey to Gatwick weekend slots will be available from the end of October.
