JT has announced a series of new initiatives designed to make it easier for islanders to recycle unwanted devices and choose more sustainable technology options, further strengthening its commitment to supporting a circular economy.
The latest developments build on JT’s partnership with We Buy Any Phone, launched in October 2025, which introduced an online recycling platform allowing customers to trade in old devices in exchange for cashback. The scheme has already helped increase device reuse across the Channel Islands and reduce unnecessary electronic waste.
As part of the next phase of its sustainability programme, JT has partnered with IT Hardware Services CI (ITHSCI) to introduce secure in-store device recycling. Customers can now drop off old or unused devices at dedicated recycling points within JT stores, where they will be assessed for refurbishment, reuse or responsible recycling.
The initiative aims to keep valuable technology in circulation for longer, reducing waste and supporting more sustainable consumption habits.
Alongside the recycling programme, JT has also expanded its range of high-quality refurbished devices. Customers can now purchase A-grade refurbished iPhones and pre-loved iPads both online and in-store, providing a more affordable alternative to buying new while helping to reduce the environmental impact associated with device manufacturing.
Helene Narcy, Chief Financial Officer at JT, said:
“We are committed to playing our part in creating a more sustainable future. By strengthening our circular economy initiatives, we’re making it easier for our customers to recycle their old devices and make more environmentally conscious choices when upgrading. Refurbished technology is a key part of that journey, offering both environmental and financial benefits.”
Stuart Moseley, Director at ITHSCI, added:
“We’re delighted to be partnering with JT on this important initiative. By introducing secure and accessible recycling points in-store, we’re helping ensure more devices are processed responsibly and kept within the circular economy for as long as possible.”
The new initiatives form part of JT’s wider sustainability strategy, which focuses on reducing waste, extending the lifecycle of technology products, and helping customers make more sustainable choices.
