The Guernsey Chamber of Commerce is calling on local businesses to take full advantage of Guernsey’s daily connections to St Malo, France, as a straightforward gateway for trade with mainland Europe. To support this ambition, the Chamber is offering a practical webinar, Customs Made Simple: Importing from Europe via St Malo, on Tuesday, 3 February 2026 (12:30–13:30).

With daily sailings, the St Malo route presents a real opportunity for Guernsey businesses to import European goods efficiently and competitively, opening doors into wider EU markets. The Chamber wants to help companies of all sizes take the leap into European trade by demystifying customs procedures and removing barriers to entry.

This webinar is designed for businesses already trading with Europe, those planning to start, and those looking to streamline their import processes. “Getting goods from mainland Europe into Guernsey via St Malo is straightforward – if the paperwork, codes and declarations are right,” says Alice Gill executive Director at the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce.

What attendees will gain:

  • A clear understanding of the import route via St Malo and how it works in practice.
  • Step-by-step guidance on key customs paperwork, commodity codes and declarations.
  • Insights on working with carriers, agents and customs officials.
  • A live Q&A with expert speakers from Customs and Economic Development.

Speakers include:

  • Chris Morris – International Trade Relations and Business Engagement, States of Guernsey.
  • Emma Webb – Head of Customs and Excise Division, Guernsey Customs and Immigration Service.
  • Jamie Edwards – Senior Advisory Officer, Customs & Excise Division, Guernsey Customs and Immigration Service.
