Chamber was delighted to host a presentation from Deputies Shane Langlois and Emily Yerby and Q&A session on the crucially important proposed Discrimination laws which will affect all business in the island, coupled with a response piece from Jon Moulton.
The consultation process is open until the end of September and businesses are asking for an investigation into the impact of the planned changes. Both speakers agreed that this would be considered as part of the consultation review.
The proposed legislation has been described as ‘gold standard’ with the IoD expressing concern that it is over-engineered for Guernsey. Around 90 corporates at the Chamber monthly lunch were given a 45 minute presentation on the proposals by the States members with a 15 minute response from Jon Moulton and a series of Q&As.
