HEALTH and safety at work will be in the focus of the 2019 series of educational events held later this month and hosted by the Guernsey Occupational Safety and Health Association (GOSHA).

Sponsored by Rossborough Insurance, the three GOSHA breakfast talks take place on Tuesday 22rd, Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th January and will highlight various aspects of health and safety in the workplace. These include first aid, working at heights and managing water hygiene and safety, the last of which links to Legionella awareness.

Andrew Mills, Chairman of GOSHA, said the series of talks is designed to encourage all organisations, not just those involved in manufacturing or construction, to think seriously about health and safety and was grateful for Rossborough’s support.

‘All businesses, large or small, should ensure that workplace health and safety is a top priority and the keynote speakers over the three days will each deliver important messages we hope will resonate with those attending. Through Rossborough, we are able to provide such talks free of charge and are grateful for their involvement.’

Ian Stewart, Managing Director of Rossborough Insurance, confirmed the company’s involvement was very much about supporting GOSHA’s aims of reaching all Guernsey companies, irrespective of their type of business.
‘We’re a local company, employing 31 staff ourselves, so are keen for all businesses on island to recognise and understand the importance of developing a safety culture which permeates throughout every organisation.’

The series, now in its eighth year, will see Robin Gonard from the Health and Safety Executive and St John discuss first aid, Mick Cooper, Health And Safety Manager at Education, Sport & Culture highlight the importance of developing a safety culture for working at heights and Daniel Pitcher of the UK’s Water Hygiene Centre discuss Legionella.

The talks, which are provided free of charge, take place at La Villette Hotel on 22nd, 23rd and 24th January, from 08:00 to 09:00. Tea/coffee and bacon rolls are included and are served from 07:30. To book a place, delegates can do so via http://www.gosha.org.gg/event-registration/
