Chamber’s sponsored visit of Jersey Town Centre Manager Daphne East has added to the momentum to ensure that the island’s retail sector has a strong focus and is future-proof.
As the island’s second largest employment sector (next to Finance) the island is heavily reliant on ensuring that Retail remains healthy and can continue to provide jobs for some 4,000 people.
Chamber has been involved with retailers and those interested in the future of retail to help create a new organisation, the Guernsey Retail Group, which will look at highly relevant topics such as the possibility of a key Retail appointee. ‘We want someone who wakes up every day living and breathing retail in its broad sense,’ said a spokesman for the new initiative.
