The disruptions to the Aurigny timetable in recent months have been significant for those traveling for both business and leisure.

And we know from your feedback that this has negatively impacted much of your businesses’ activity.

We recently met with Aurigny CEO Nico Bezuidenhout to provide member feedback, understand the situation and find out what plans were in place to restore the reliable service to which we are accustomed.

Aurigny are taking the following actions:

  • Temporarily restructure its flying program until the airline has a fully serviceable fleet, which is expected by the 4th July.
  • Regional routes will be consolidated to reduce the level of flying, with lifeline London routes facing minimal disruption. (All summer European destinations remain unaffected.)
  • New wet-lease capacity (an arrangement covering the hire of an aircraft including the provision of a flight crew) operating a SAAB 340 Turboprop will be introduced in June to deliver the interim schedule.
  • By early July, the first of two new ATR72 aircraft is expected to be added to the fleet, with the other arriving in September.

We acknowledge that many of these issues have been outside of Aurigny’s control such as global spares shortages, and we appreciate their efforts to continue transporting passengers to their destinations despite having 25% less capacity in their schedule.

While there will be disruptions until early July we support the strategic decision to simplfy the fleet around the ATR72, which will ultimately improve the financial viability of Aurigny and its ability to sustainably support the island’s airlinks.

As recent weeks have demonstrated, where there is a need for jet services, these can be sourced (within the operating constraints of the runway) from other airlines.
