Changes to parking time limits in Town for the festive period
As Christmas approaches, some parking time limits in Town will be changing once again to make it easier for Islanders to enjoy the festivities in St Peter Port and support local businesses.
From Saturday 13th November until Sunday 2nd January inclusive, a number of 2-hour parking spaces will be extended to 3-hours. This is around ten days earlier than in previous years to give extended support over the festive period to the retail and hospitality sectors who may have been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
At North Beach, all 2-hour parking in the centre section (114 spaces) will change to 3-hour. The 3-hour time limits will also apply to spaces at Albert (156 spaces) and Crown (98 spaces) Piers, other than those designated as long-term small car parking.
Some 3-hour parking spaces by the Model Yacht Pond (19 spaces), in the area adjacent to the rowing skiffs between Guernsey Divers and the “Fishy Tails” café, will be changed to 10-hour parking to increase capacity for those working in Town with this change being in place until 5th April 2022, when Castle Cornet is expected to reopen.
Members of the public will also be able to park at both Sir Charles Frossard House and Lukis House on the remaining Saturdays in November and on Saturdays during December. In addition, these car parks will be available between 18:00-22:00 for people taking advantage of the Thursday late night shopping on 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd December.
Furthermore, the 10-hour spaces at North Beach will also be de-regulated on a Saturday, meaning drivers will not be required to move their vehicle by 8am if they have parked overnight on the Friday.
An additional bus service will operate on the four Night Owl routes (N1, N2, N3 & N4), leaving the Town Terminus at 21:30 on the late-night shopping evenings. Further details will be available online from www.buses.gg or by emailing information@buses.gg.
The Petit Train will be offering a free Park n Ride service Between Sir Charles Frossard House and the Picquet House stand at the bus terminus on 9th, 16th and 23rd December.
