Every month we pose 7 questions to a Chamber member; this month it’s George Bett from digital marketing agency, Clicksmith.

1. Who are you?

I am George, Managing director of Clicksmith.

2. How long have you been in business.

I have been working in digital market for a looooong time.

I started after graduating in 2009 and have worked across multiple digital disciplines ever since.  Given it was supposedly new and innovative when I started, I suppose I have been involved since its infancy.

I started Clicksmith back in 2016 after returning to Guernsey and since then we have been lucky enough to work with some of the Channel Islands most visible brands.

3. How did you get into this? 

After leaving University with a degree in Business Studies and Marketing I thought it might be wise to use all that hard earned knowledge… hard earned honestly!

Despite very quickly finding out that my degree covered literally zero digital marketing areas I found a job in the world of Affiliate Marketing.  From there my career in London led me to working with some of the biggest brands in the world across nearly all digital disciplines.  After nearly 10 years in London I decided to bring my expertise and passion to beautiful Guernsey.

4. What’s the ‘why’ behind the work you do?

I believe in an honest, transparent approach to marketing.  The ethos is about service, and that will never change.

As a business and business owner I want to offer clients strategies and plans that will suit their business objectives and budgets.  I want to develop long term relationships and they are only ever possible with successful and sustainable campaigns. I find digital marketing fascinating, it genuinely blows my mind how it works.  In the end I want businesses of all sizes to be as equaly as enthused as I am.

5. What’s your process for coming up with your solutions/offers? 

It is simple, what is our client looking to achieve.  Far too often we hear of clients being given an “out of the box” strategy.  But the reality is that no one size fits all, every one of our clients needs their own plan that matches their own business needs.

I work very hard to ensure that what we offer as an agency is actually going to benefit the client.

6. What book has shaped your life and why? 

I’ve got two small children so I read a lot about bears, tigers and dinosaurs.  I’m not sure they shape my life but they make a nice change from staring at ad campaigns all day!

7. Tea, Coffee or something a little stronger? 

Coffee… with something stronger? I’m fairly easy to be honest and can be persuaded to have a beer or two.
