Staff at The International Stock Exchange (TISE) have raised more than £9,000 in support of the Guernsey Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA).
The GSPCA was chosen by TISE employees as their ‘charity of choice’ for 2021.
Throughout the year, staff used allocated volunteer time to help out at the charity’s headquarters in St Andrew’s and donated much-needed items to help care for the animals.
The team at TISE also organised a series of activities during the year to raise funds for the GSPCA, including a baking competition, a sponsored silence, a walking challenge aptly named TISE Goes Walkies, and an afternoon tea for nearly 100 guests hosted at St Pierre Park Hotel.
These activities raised more than £4,500 which was then matched by TISE so that a total in excess of £9,000 has been handed over to the GSPCA.
Laura Cornelius, Head of HR at TISE, said: “We are so pleased to have been able to help the GSPCA in a variety of ways throughout last year, including raising more than £9,000 for the charity. It is great to see our team come together through these activities and have such a fun time while also raising funds for such a worthy cause. I hope that the money raised will be of real benefit to so many animals in Guernsey.”
The £9,000 raised by staff at TISE will be used to support the 24/7 care which the GSPCA provides to animals in Guernsey.
Steve Byrne, Manager at the GSPCA, said: “We are delighted to receive this support from TISE. Their team has helped us throughout the year and it has been fantastic to collaborate on fund raising events such as the afternoon tea. The money raised will go towards making a real difference to the hundreds of animals in our care and 24/7 work. The GSPCA cannot thank the amazing team at TISE enough for their support, the incredible donation and their great company when they volunteered at the Animal Shelter. They have made a huge difference and it is hugely appreciated.”
TISE has also made donations to similar animal welfare charities in Ireland, the Isle of Man and Jersey, which are the other jurisdictions where it has staff based.
