The GTA University Centre has confirmed that it will once again run the Channel Islands only Masters in Business Administration from September.

The part-time, two-year course, which is considered to be an international passport to a successful career in business, has already been completed by 80 Channel Islanders with another nine from Guernsey and two from Jersey due to finish later this year.

‘The prosperity of the islands relies on us looking outwards, and understanding and engaging with customers, suppliers, governments and other stakeholders in international markets. To succeed we need to equip and train our leaders and key managers with the right skills and knowledge and an MBA is internationally recognised as the premier management qualification,’ said Chris Edwards from the GTA University Centre.

‘The GTA has formed a partnership with the University of Southampton, which is consistently ranked in the UK top 20 and in the top 100 in the world, to be able to offer the MBA in Guernsey which provides the Channel Islands with an affordable and convenient way to undertake the qualification.’
The course, which is one of only 300 to be accredited by the highly regarded AMBA (Association of MBAs), is delivered in Guernsey by tutors from the university. Presentations in Guernsey and Jersey next month will give anyone interested in the opportunity to learn more about the course.

‘An MBA enables students, who are senior managers, directors or specialists in their field, to gain an integrated and critical understanding of management and organisations, be able to relate their own work experience to business theory and deepen and widen their understanding of their organisation and the environment in which it operates,’ said Mr Edwards.

‘Students are given the opportunity to work with thought leaders from around the globe and explore key business topics including leadership in the 21st Century, managing people, contemporary marketing, decision modelling and corporate finance. They will also examine their own organisations in a business context and attend an international study week in Maastricht working with real life businesses and students from different backgrounds.
‘Everyone who has completed it has said that it has transformed the way they think about business.’
Presentations about the new course will be held in Guernsey on 15th March and in Jersey on 16th & 17th March. For more information contact admin@gta.gg
