THE benefits of gaining Investors in People status considerably outweigh the investment required according to a local IIP Gold organisation ahead of a seminar being organised to encourage more companies to take part.

Sovereign Trust (Channel Islands) Ltd achieved gold accreditation in August 2014 and HR Manager & Company Secretary, Georgie Scott, said it had significantly improved the way the business operated.

‘We were cautious because we knew it would generate additional work but we recognised the benefits it could potentially bring. It delivered those benefits and more. As a result of Investors in People we are certainly more focussed on the areas that make an impact to our operations, and are therefore more able to compete in a challenging marketplace,’ she said.

The GTA University Centre has organised a lunchtime seminar on Monday 7th December to introduce the Investors in People framework, which contains nine indicators that put people excellence at the heart of any organisation including leading and inspiring people, managing performance, building capability and creating sustainable success.

Miss Lane, IIP Consultant for the GTA University Centre said, ‘Research has shown that Investors in People accredited organisations are more profitable, sustainable and optimistic about the future. Understanding performance drives success and making the right investments in your people will benefit every employee and ultimately the company’s success.’

The two hour seminar, which is free to attend and includes a light lunch, will provide an overview of Investors in People, detail the assessment process and give companies the opportunity to discuss current challenges and business priorities.

‘Obtaining Investors in People accreditation is an outstanding achievement as it requires genuine commitment from leaders, passionate employees and for everyone to be focused on the ambitions of the organisation. We hope that organisations will take this opportunity to learn more about the process and hopefully commit to working towards accreditation,’ said Miss Lane.
