With the number of electric vehicles (EV) owners rising across Europe it is no surprise that hoteliers are recognising that EV charging points are becoming an amenity to be offered. The Hotel de Havelet in St Peter Port is the latest hotel to install one of the new generation of charging points for their guests. Easy to use, the EO charger offers connection via a smartphone app to allow the car owner to manage their charging needs.
Hotel manager Gennaro Festivo explained the reasons for their choice “We had noticed the increase in interest in electric vehicles and had received enquiries about charging points at the hotel as it is our aim to always exceed our customer’s’ expectations it was an easy decision to install an EV charging point to allow both hotel and dining guests to be able to conveniently top up their charge. For us this is another step in reinforcing our green credentials and our commitment to sustainability.”
The charging point was supplied by local company Green Acorn Ltd and installed by AC Electrical Keith Hounsell from Green Acorn explained for islands and remote locations the EO Charger is a hassle free, fit and forget charging system and with increasing EV users on the island and visitors means they no longer have ‘range anxiety’. The EO smart charge app system is fantastic offering a single access method rather than multiple cards and platforms like in the UK and Europe. For islanders visiting the mainland this means they can use all EO chargers and for visitors to Guernsey they have a dedicated smart network so no concerns about how they will charge during their trip.
Charlie Jardine, CEO and Founder at EO Charging explained their future plans for EV charging locally. ”We are working closely with Green Acorn in the Channel Islands to build an open integrated network. We have a number of installations to follow and we at EO are very pleased the Hotel Havelet started the initiative and we’re proud to support them.”
