The Guernsey Counselling Service (GCS) has officially opened the doors to its newly refurbished centre in St Peter Port, marking the successful completion of the first project by not-for-profit initiative Build for Good.
Led by The Drawing Room in partnership with Rihoy & Son, Build for Good offers design and construction expertise to local charitable organisations.
The initiative’s debut project involved transforming GCS’s newly acquired premises into a purpose-built, welcoming environment for its counselling services. GCS offers a professional counselling service to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay. The upgraded facility includes three counselling rooms, a waiting area, and an office.
The Drawing Room and Rihoy & Son donated their time and expertise. The Drawing Room completed the design, worth £10,000, and Rihoy & Son undertook the construction work worth £30,000.
Rachel Rogers, Director at The Drawing Room, said:
“It’s been a privilege to see this project go from concept to completion. We’ve worked closely with GCS to ensure the space is both professional and calming – somewhere that feels safe for anyone seeking support.”
Dan Taylor, Managing Director of Rihoy & Son, added:
“Our team has been proud to play a part in giving GCS the space it needs to continue its essential work in the community. It shows what can be done when local organisations come together with a shared goal.”
The new premises was officially opened on Friday 27 June. Sarah, Counselling Director at GCS, said:
“The transformation is incredible, and the space reflects the professionalism and care we bring to every counselling session. We are immensely grateful to Build for Good – this is more than just a building, it’s a foundation for the future of our service.”
Huge thanks to the local suppliers that supported the project: A. C.
