Red Carnation Hotels host Guernsey International Food Festival events

Guernsey’s International Food Festival will take place between 23 September – 2 October, where there will be many exciting promotions in restaurants and cocktail bars. The OGH and Duke of Richmond Hotels are playing their part in this year’s festival, with five events as well as participation in Guernsey Cocktail Week which kicks off on 16 September.

Although tickets for the Curry Leaf Café masterclass lunch on Sunday 25th at The OGH are already sold out there are still some places left for Saturday 24th, with Chef Kanthi Kiran Thamma hosts a masterclass lunch featuring classic dishes from Kerala and South India, in the Curry Room. He’ll talk through the dishes while he prepares, answering any questions about Indian cuisine and how you can make similar dishes at home, before you sit down to a three course lunch with a glass of wine.

Saturday 24th is also the date for the British Game Gala dinner at The OGH, featuring the hotel’s Executive Chef, Simon McKenzie who will be preparing a gala dinner featuring the best of seasonal game meats paired with award winning wines and spirits.

On Tuesday 27th the events switch to The Duke of Richmond Hotel for this year’s food lab. Five producers, five chefs, five dishes. The festival’s most creative dining experience, randomly matching kitchen and production talent for a never-to-be-repeated gourmet meal at the Duke of Richmond. This year our pairings are The Pavilion and Torteval Cheese, Le Petit Bistro and Guernsey Peppers, the Duke of Richmond and Guernsey Golden Goats, Old Government House and Haut Maison, and a special guest chef paired with Fresh Guernsey Herbs.

International Chef Exchange: St Lucia comes to Guernsey is on Thursday 29 September. The Cliff at Cap restaurant was recently hailed by The New York Times and is already one of the most highly sought after tables in St Lucia. In one of the Caribbean’s most dramatic settings overlooking the surging Caribbean sea, the restaurant is under the direction of Executive Chef Craig Jones. His nouveau French West Indian menu elegantly presents the bounty of St Lucia’s fresh local produce and seafood readily sourced on this tropical island. Chef Craig takes over the kitchens of chef Simon Mckenzie at the Old Government House for one night only of Caribbean flavours.

Simon will head to St Lucia in February 2017 for reciprocal events at Cap Maison showcasing his skills and flair as this year’s Channel Island Chef of the Year.
