Wednesday 24th April = WOW (WEAR ORANGE WEDNESDAY)
April 22nd-28th 2019 is National Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week and the Guernsey Group of the MS Society would like to invite islanders to participate in the 4th WOW – Wear Orange Wednesday, on Wednesday April 24th.
This year WOW is kindly being sponsored by Lince Salisbury, and being supported by many local organisations, businesses and groups. Because of the school holidays, some schools and colleges are supporting WOW on alternative dates.
Guernsey FC, for example, will be supporting WOW on Easter Monday, April 22nd, at their
last home game of the current season, which kicks off at 2pm. A spokesperson from the Guernsey MS Group will be at the game to address the crowd, and the squad will be warming up in orange shirts.
“Orange is quite a colour contrast for our team, which is usually seen in green or purple,” explains GFC Director Nic Legg, “And yet supporting this excellent and important initiative is a perfect blend with Guernsey FC’s ethos as a committed community club.”
All people have to do to get involved with WOW is wear something orange, use something orange, or eat something orange, and make a donation (or get sponsored). There are scarves, bow ties, ties, hair extensions, scrunchies, key rings, orange sweets and other little goodies (limited stock) available for a suggested MINIMUM donation of £2.50. Retail outlets stocking the items are Donate Keep It Local (off Mont Arrive), Cadeaux by Town Church, Cadeaux Toy shop at Oatlands, Aladdin’s Cave and Earlswood Garden Centre. Goods can also be obtained by e-mailing
Get your family, friends, and work colleagues involved. All donations, big or small, are gratefully received.
The objective of the event is to raise both awareness of Multiple Sclerosis as well as funds to support the activities of the Guernsey Group. The money raised will be used to help fund equipment such as special beds, hoists and mobility equipment, as well as social events, transportation, day-care costs and therapeutic exercise classes. We also have a Children’s Fund which is used to purchase equipment or fund courses or outings for children in families where one parent has MS.
