Join us at Chamber to celebrate World Oceans Day with a special screening for local business of The Blue, a new film by Wild Islands. The Premiere and second screening of this powerful documentary sold out and Guernsey Chamber and SBI are grateful to be able to share this with you. This locally-made film celebrates the ocean surrounding Guernsey, its amazing inhabitants and the scientists who are working hard to help us to understand it better.
The film lasts for about 20 minutes and afterwards, we will be joined by Elizabeth Sweet who narrates the film for a short presentation followed by a Q&A session to explore the challenges we face and how local businesses can get more involved in supporting local biodiversity efforts.
World Oceans Day is an international day that takes place annually on 8 June. The concept was originally proposed in 1992 by Canada’s International Centre for Ocean Development and the Ocean Institute of Canada at the Earth Summit – UN Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. To celebrate the United Nations World Oceans Day 2023 theme, Planet Ocean, the United Nations is joining forces with decision makers, scientists, private sector executives, civil society representatives, indigenous communities, celebrities and youth activists and more to put the ocean first.
