So many in our workforces are really struggling. They are having to do more with less and the pressure is on to perform and exceed last year’s targets. Very often their performance is judged by the number of hours at their desk and their willingness to go ‘above and beyond’ in their efforts to succeed. All this achieves is demotivation, burn out and a ‘zombie’ culture. A ‘resilience culture’ is one where we have strong teams that work proactively and can pull together through change and adversity, and leadership that acknowledges and rewards effort as well as results.
In this lunchtime talk (lunch provided) I will share simple ideas on how to create a resilience culture, where people can achieve results, thrive and be the best version of themselves, but actually work less hours. Resilience is something we all need more and more in this new world of work. It can be learned, developed and fostered.
We will explore ideas and suggestions on:
• how managers can role model resilience through their own good working practices
• ways to boost wellbeing in the team by putting the ‘body back into business’
• making small changes to the culture of technology use
• how we can provide more meaningful work
