The Bailiwick’s Data Protection Commissioner, Emma Martins is Chamber’s monthly lunch speaker for April. She will speak on our local data protection law, that is equivalent to the EU’s GDPR, in the run-up to the first anniversary of its introduction.
Emma will give an update on activity since the new law came into force in May 2018, including what local trends her office is seeing in terms of personal data breaches. She will also speak about the importance of organisations looking beyond the processes and procedures of compliance with the law, to its principles. And finally, Emma will call on all local organisations to develop workplace cultures where every employee recognises the essential role of ethical data use in building trust with the people whose personal data they hold.
