Chamber Annual Dinner Charity named

Giving Opportunities to Guernsey’s Young People

Local charity, Giving Opportunities (GO) will be the exclusive beneficiary of the ticket sales from the raffle at the forthcoming Guernsey Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner to be held on Wednesday 25 November 2015 at the St. Pierre Park Hotel.

The raffle is always well supported and this year raffle prizes are tailored around experiences rather than actual items; experiences that are both creatively imaginative and will bring tangible enjoyment to the lucky winning ticket holders.

GO’s main fund raising comes from its charity shop. All monies raised from the charity shops are used to train some of Guernsey’s young people who have social, language or communications difficulties with the aim of helping them find employment. To date, eight of these young people are now full and part-time employees and seven are trainees, all of whom are responsible for the running of the business on site at the shop on The Bridge.

GO works closely with Autism Guernsey, Action for Children and the Guernsey Employment Trust all of whom refer people to GO. GO’s primary aim is to build confidence and to teach the importance of teamwork.

Sarah Bamford is the founder of GO and she says “We were honoured and delighted when the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce approached us asking if we would like be the benefitting charity from this year’s annual dinner. We are very aware of the number of businesses that are represented at this event and their support this year with purchasing raffle tickets will make a quantifiable and tangible difference in the opportunities that can be given to Guernsey’s young people.”

Tickets for the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce are priced at £70 each, or £700 for a table of ten, and include Champagne reception, three course dinner and keynote speaker Gus O’Donnell who was the UK Cabinet Secretary, serving three of the most recent prime ministers – Blair, Brown and Cameron – and is now non-executive Chairman of Frontier Economics. Tickets can be reserved by calling The Guernsey Event Company Ltd on (01481) 728686 or email
